A new Foundation in America ready to take Down Fibromyalgia -

As Fibromyalgia Care Society of America (FCSA) launched their campaign, the exciting news was shared in the medical community recently. FCSA has one and only one goal as the brainchild of long-term fibromyalgia sufferer Mildred Velez and that is to cure fibromyalgia. Or at least, bring this illness to the lead of medical research in the U.S. the plan of FSCA is to introduce new approaches to patient care, create care centers, provide professional education courses for the doctors and introduce non-clinical services for the patients of fibromyalgia.

For several years, Velez has worked diligently by cooperating with a doctor’s team, non-profit professional and social workers in creating Fibromyalgia Care Society of America. They hope that they would help in stopping the stigmas that are attached to chronic pain illnesses across the board of medicine and science.

Velez said on the topic of creating FSCA, “I never wanted to set up my own organization; I always wanted to help what was already in place. But over the past few months, I took a closer look at what was in place and it occurred to me that there are some very critical things being done for other diseases that are are not being done for fibromyalgia.”

Three core areas of focus are utilized in the primary model for FSCA. The first is the centers for Excellence where state-of-the-art will be started. The second core area is the program name Fibrcares, in which a work will be done with patients of fibromyalgia in a non-clinical location. And the third one will involve FSCA’a Empowerment Groups.

All these groups will work as a type of traditional support group but will propose particular coping mechanisms for patients in dealing with fibromyalgia, comprised of clinical based self-care strategies and 12 step program models. This multilayered and original model will prove to be a holistic program (all mind and body) that anyone in the fibromyalgia world has ever seen.

For fibromyalgia sufferers, a lot of things are now changing. Not only in terms of resources for expanding patient care, now, a lot of doctors and community members actually understand this disease.

All that matters is the love and acceptance from people around us. Now, the normality in the lives of patients who are long overdue is going to occur because of Mildred Velez and the Fibromyalgia Care Society of America.
